An Analysis on the Ant Fauna of Nonggang Nature Reserve in Guangxi, China

Abstract: All the ant specimens were collected from Nonggang Nature Reserve, in total, 93 species belonging to 39 genera, 6 subfamilies of Formicidae were taxonomically identified. The analytical result of species component shows that Myrmicinae, and Formicinae are dominant subfamilies. According to the fauna analysis, there were 18 distribution patterns in the world ant geographic fauna, and 15 distribution patterns in Chinese insects geographic fauna. The fauna in the Nature Reserve has a typical Oriental character, which is closest to those of Palaearctic region. Meanwhile, the species of South China are in the dominant position, the ant in South China, Southwest China, Central China and North China have the closest relationship with others. Furthurmore, a comparison is made with Yunnan, Hunan, Sichuan, Shaanxi Province and Northwestern China districts in ant faunal composition.
