Skinfold Thickness Characteristics of Yi Adults in Daliangshan,China

Abstract: By adopting the method of anthropometry, the 6 items of skinfold thickness(including facial,biceps, triceps,subscapular,suprailiac and calf skinfold thickness)of 402 cases of the Yi adults(197 males and 205 females) were investigatedin Daliangshan of Sichuan.The results were shown as follows:(1)Trunk subcutaneous fat development of male was superior to that of the limbs.The skinfolds of trunk and upper limb developed better in female.(2)Six items of skinfold thickness, of female were greater than that of male,the difference was statistically significant. (3) Correlation analysis and variance analysis showed, that the thickness of back skinfold and suprailiac skinfold was positively correlated with age in male,but with no statistically significant within age groups.The skinfold thickness of triceps and biceps of female was positively correlated with age, but with no statistically significant within age groups. (4)Compared of 8 ethnic groups in China, the skinfold thickness of male and female of Daliangshan is close to that of southwest minorities.Conclusion can be reached that: the characteristics of skin folds of Yi had the characteristics of southwest minorities. The skinfold thickness was comparatively thin, and body was slim.
