Research on Freeway Flow Control Model Moving Bottleneck

Abstract: Moving bottleneck is one of the important causes of highway congestion. To effectively alleviate this problem, it is proposed to establish a micro-macro model of the interaction between moving bottleneck and surrounding traffic. An internal prediction model is built based on constraints and optimization goals, which can minimize costs. Based on the function to evaluate the impact of the model on traffic flow, a flow control model problem is proposed. According to the MPC (model predictive control) method, the initial flow is optimized and controlled, and the macro simulation analysis is performed using Matlab. The simulation results show that the control method improves the optimization target by more than 5% compared with the uncontrolled condition, and the highway operating efficiency is improved. In view of the fact that the permeability of automatic vehicles will continue to increase in the next few years, the use of controlled traffic flow to regulate the traffic has a promising prospects.
