Preparation of Gramine under Ultrasonic Conditions

Abstract: A ultrasound-assisted synthesis method of gramine was developed using dimethylamine,formaldehyde and indole as starting materials. Influences of catalysts,solvents,temperature,ultrasonic time,the mole ratio of starting materials to yields were investigated. When the reaction temperature is 45 ℃,ultrasonic time is 5 min,the catalyst is acetic acid,the molar ratio of dimethylamine,formaldehyde,indole and acetic acid was 2.0∶2.0∶1.0∶2.5,yield of gramine is 98.4%. The reaction was amplified to ten grams level. The products were characterized by 1H NMR and IR. Compared with the existing methods, ultrasonic assisted synthesis of gramine has such advantages as easy operation,higher yield,shorter reaction time,which has a potential application prospect.
