Effect of Cardiac Memory on Spiral Wave

Abstract: How to eliminate the spiral wave of the heart and prevent the spiral wave is a hotspot, but there is little research on the role of heart memory in the spiral wave. A two-dimensional cellular automata model for a heart with memory is presented. The effects of excitation probability and the length of memory time are studied.The computer simulations show that when cardiac memory and the excitation probability apply to the stable spiral wave formed by a GH model, the spiral wave will meander, breakup or disappear. The excitability of the system will be increased with the increase of the length of memory time and the excitation probability. Under certain conditions, if the excitation probability and the length of memory time are controlled within proper values, the goal to eliminate spiral wave will be reached. The study provides a theoretical basis for the prevention and treatment of heart disease.
