Comprehensive Extractions of Saponin and Polyphenols from Camellia cakes

Abstract: Study on comprehensive extractions of saponin and polyphenols from the seed cake of Camellia oleifera Abel. was conducted. With the yields as inspection targets,the technology of extracting with ethanol and water was investigated for determining the influences of extracting time,extracting temperature,solid-liquid ratio and ethanol concentration. The optimum comprehensive extraction process was determined by orthogonal test. The experimental results show that extracting time 2 h,extracting temperature 80 ℃,solid-liquid ratio 1∶12 and ethanol concentration 60%. Under the conditions,the extraction yields of saponin and polyphenols were 15.26% and 0.52% (based on kaempferol) respectively.
