Antioxidant Activity of Vodiamine, Mulberry, Pomelo and Banana

Abstract: Under ultrasound, vodiamine, mulberry, pomelo and banana were respectively extracted with acetone, ethanol, water and ethyl acetate solvents to offer vodiamine extract (EAE, EEE, EWE and EAEE), mulberry extract (MAE, MEE, MWE and MAEE), pomelo peel extract (SPAE, SPEE, SPWE and SPAEE), pomelo flesh extract (SFAE, SFEE, SFEW and SFAEE), banana flesh extract (BAE, BEE and BWE) and banana peel extract (BPAE, BPEE, BPWE and BPAEE). Their antioxidant activities were evaluated, employing DPPH·, ABTS+·, O-2· and OH· methods, respectively. The results showed that all IC50 of vodiamine extract, mulberry extract, pomelo extract and banana extract were much lower than the standard value 10 g/L in these four assays, indicating good antioxidant activities of these extracts. In addition, the extracts solvents had important influence on their antioxidant activities.
